Bylaws
I. Organization:
● The committee will serve as the official record keepers.
● www.EastCoastLivestockAssoc.org and the ECLA Facebook page will act as the official site for advertising, promotion, and communication. Any updates during the season will be posted on our facebook page. The ECLA is not responsible for any missed information by exhibitors throughout the show season.
● Any grievances must be presented to an ECLA committee member, within 24 hours of incident, in writing and accompanied by a $250 non-refundable fee. ○ However, if grievance is approved fees will be refunded.
● ECLA committee shall consist of the following:

A member from each show on the circuit, to be appointed by each individual show committee

Director which is responsible for working with all sanctioned shows, developing show schedule, and coordinating end-of-year awards program.

Treasurer is responsible for fund management and finance.

Points Chairman responsible for collecting results and determining end-of-year overall points winners.
-
In future a Sponsorship Coordinator responsible for raising funds through sponsorships and working with our donors.
II. Membership:

A $25 membership fee paid per species.
-
Membership benefits include: 1 T-Shirt (while sizes and supplies last) and the eligibility for end of year points awards and scholarships

Exhibitors may sign up to become a member of the ECLA by filling out an Exhibitor Form at one of the first 3 weekends or online.

Members must be signed up by one of the first 3 shows in order for points to count. If you sign up after our 3rd weekend, points will only be counted from the time you sign up.

Exhibitors wishing to sign up for the ECLA that have not signed-up by the third show may not be eligible for points for the shows prior to signing up.
-
No minimum age for members, however, parents are to use their best discretion and a member’s points will NOT count if they have someone helping them in the show ring.

ECLA commitee has the right to suspend membership, due to unethical, direspectful or disruptive behavior at an ECLA Sanctioned show.
III. Sanctioned Shows:

Shows must follow the guidelines set forth by the ECLA for record keeping and points.

● Each show must offer showmanship unless approved by the ECLA.
● Showmanship ages will be as follows

Under-8 as Novice

9-12 as Junior
-
13-15 as Intermediate
-
16-21 as Senior (as of Jan 1)
IV. Points
-
Points will be accumulated from all sanctioned shows, however only the top 9 scores out of 14 will be counted to determine overall awards. In the event of a tie ALL points will first be counted, then next tie break will be in head to head competition.

Points will be accumulated per individual animal.

Showmanship points will be accumulated per individual species
-
In the event that a shows age divisions differ we will do our best to adjust points. (points will likely pull from classes in this event)

It is a member's responsibility to use consistent animal ID throughout the show season. If not consistent the points will not count when calculating for year-end awards.

Pigs must be identified by ear notch
-
Lambs and goats must be identified using the last 4 digits of a tag number
-
All animals must be entered and shown by the same individual ECLA member for each show, for points to be accumulated in their name, unless that member has two (2) or more animals in the same class, in which case an animal may be shown by another ECLA member.

If the show is running multiple rings for multiple species at the same time another ECLA member may show the animal for points to be accumulated..

Showmanship will be the only class that will possibly be held if there are 2 species running showmanship at the same time to allow the ECLA member to participate in both.
Points will be awarded for each animal as follows:.
Grand Overall Champion: 50 points (for the show)
Reserve Grand Overall Champion: 45 points (for the show)
3rd Overall: 40 points (for the show)
4th Overall: 35 points (for the show)
5th Overall: 30 points (for the show)
Breed or Division Champion: 25 points (for the show)
Res Breed or Division Champion: 15 points (for the show)
1st place in class: 10 points, 2nd place in class: 8 points, 3rd place in class: 6 points, 4th place in class 4 points, 5th place or lower 2 points.
Example: Cross Gilt (Grand Overall, Grand Cross, Class Winner 50 points)
Example: Duroc Barrow (4th Overall, Champ Duroc, Class Winner 35 points)
Points will be awarded to each participant for showmanship as follows
Champion: 10 points (plus class points)
Res Champion: 5 points (plus class points)
1st place in class: 10 points, 2nd place in class: 8 points, 3rd place in class: 6 points, 4th place in class 4 points, 5th place or less 2 points.

Pigs

Breeding Gilts & Market Barrows will all show together

Hogs will show by Breeds. (Some Shows may require 6 to have a breed, if thats the case points from AOB will be added)

Berkshires, Chesters, Dark Cross, Duroc, Hamps, Herfords, Landrace, Light Cross, Polands, Spots, Tams, Yorks

Age Requirements

Fall pigs may show up until the weekend after Interstate Preview.

Pigs born after Decemeber 1st may show the entire circuit

Purebred papers are required for all purebred pigs and must be in exhibitor from their respective breed association as well as meet all breed characteristics: www.nationalswine.com/rulesandregulations/barrowclassguide.html

All pigs must be shown by weight and without weight limits.

Champion and Reserve Champion will be chosen by the judge at each show. It is preferred that a Top 5 will be selected at each show if possible.

At the end of the Circuit an Overall High Points pig will be awarded as well as a Top 5, the High Point pig for each breed will also be recognized and guaranteed a minimum of a banner. Additional awards for the top 5 will be determined by the committee

A judge can only judge 1 show on the circuit per year.

Sheep
-
Wethers and Ewe Lambs will show together
-
All sheep must have an approved scrapie identification tag. It is suggested you register using this tag at all shows to
avoid confusion.

Lambs must have all milk teeth intact
-
Sheep must be shown by weight and without weight limits.
-
Champion and Reserve Champion will be chosen by the judge at each show. It is preferred that a Top 5 be selected
at each show if possible.

The top 5 high point lambs will be announced and awarded at the end of the circuit.

Lambs may show by Breeds. (White Face, Specks, Natural, Crossbreds) Some shows may require 6 to have a
particular breed division; in that case the lamb will have to show in crossbreds.

Points will be awarded for each animal as follows:
Grand Overall Champion: 50 points (for the show)
Reserve Grand Overall Champion: 45 points (for the show)
3rd Overall: 40 points (for the show)
4th Overall: 35 points (for the show)
5th Overall: 30 points (for the show)
Breed or Division Champion: 25 points (for the show)
Res Breed or Division Champion: 15 points (for the show)
1st place in class: 10 points, 2nd place in class: 8 points, 3rd place in class: 6 points, 4th place in class 4 points, 5th
place or lower 2 points.
Showmanship:
Division Champion: 15 points
Division Res Champion: 13 points
Third Place: 11 points
Fourth Place: 9 points

Made finals: 6 points
All others: 5 points

Additional prizes will be given if the tie remains.
